When trying to determine the best time of year to visit Montana, a lot of it depends on what you plan on doing as there are fun, seasonal adventures in MT to be found year round. From learning more about early American history through a visit to the Crow Indian Reservation or for outdoor adventures, there’s something here for everyone. One of the biggest tourist destinations in Montana is Yellowstone National Park. If you plan on road tripping through the park, consider going during April or May. This is right before peak season begins in the summer months. In fact, during June - August, the park has over 2 million visitors so you’ll want to book things well in advance and expect to spend more for reservations. If you go in the spring however, there will be less crowds, good weather and beautiful wildflowers in bloom during late May. If you’re simply planning on visiting Montanna to take in all the things Big Sky country has to offer such as Glacier National Park, historical lewis and Clark trails, charming towns such as Billings and Missoula and more, than March - August is the best time to visit. You’ll find the best weather during this time and all the main attractions will be open. Of course, MT offers fun during the winter months as well. If you’re thinking about skiing at Big Sky Resort, than November through March is the official winter season. During this time you’ll find plenty of opportunities for skiing, snowboarding and winter fun.
