One outdoor option at Yellowstone National Park is to go boating. If you have a non-motorized boat than you are allowed to ride the boat on the Lewis River channel which is located between Lewis and Shoshone lakes. Motorized boating is permitted on most of Yellowstone Lake as well as on Lewis Lake. However, if you are interested in bringing a boat, a permit is required. If you are interested, there are opportunities to rent rowboats and kayaks. There are also options for guided boat trips and tours of Yellowstone Lake. Xanterra Parks and Resorts at Bridge Bay Marina on Yellowstone Lake is the place to go for all boat rentals.
If you’re looking to stay dry, consider going on a bicycling adventure through Yellowstone. While some roads are open to both vehicles and bicycles, some designated areas are only for bikes and pedestrians. Some of these include the riverside trail, the fountain freight road, the lone star geyser road, and the natural bridge road. The Blacktail Plateau Drive and the Old Gardiner Road are roads that allow two-way bike traffic as well as one-way vehicle traffic.
Fishing is another excellent option for an outdoor adventure at Yellowstone. If you are interested in going fishing, anyone who is 16 years or older needs to have a fishing license. A fishing license costs $18 for three days, $25 for seven days, and if you are interested in a season permit, it costs $40. Permits can be purchased at one of the manly Yellowstone General Stores that are located throughout the park.
