If you have seen the movie ‘Whip It’ you know how exciting and fast-paced a roller derby competition can be. If an event like this sounds interesting to you, Magic City Rollers has created a truly unique event that will prove to be entertaining for people of all ages. Introducing, BruiseFest 2015. This event brings together a beer festival with an international roller derby tournament! If you have never seen a game of roller derby, prepare to fall in love with this fast paced and action packed game. Even though this event is part Beerfest, children are still allowed to attend. BruiseFest 2015 will take place on Saturday, May 16th at the MetraPark Expo Center. If you’re staying in one of the hotels near the Metra, get your tickets now!Some of the different teams that will be participating in this tournament include the Magic City Rollers, Dockyard Dames, Redneck Betties, Bisman Bombshellz, Black Hills Roller Derby, Hellgate Rollers, and the Coal Miners’ Daughters. Cheer on your favorite team as they compete for the first place prize of this international roller derby tournament. Alongside these talented ladies, there will be 15 breweries that you can taste from at the Beerfest section. In case you get hungry from all of the excitement, there will also be some local food trucks at the event as well.When you purchase your ticket before May 16th, admission will be $20, and when you purchase tickets at the door, they will be $25. Ticket prices include five beer tokens, and additional tokens may be purchased for $1 per token. Attendees between the ages of 16 and 20, as well as designated drivers, can enter the event for $10 and children 15 and under get in FREE. The Roller Derby tournament will begin at 8 am, and beer will start to be served at 12 pm. A portion of all ticket sales will go to the Big Brothers Big Sisters program of each team’s town.
